Role: Accounts Assistant

Job Type: 15 months FTC, full time or part time

Salary: £28,000 plus (depending on experience)

Location: Southampton

Hours: 09:00 – 17:00, 35 hours per week

·        Remote working until mid-July due to office refurbishments

·        From mid-July the role will be hybrid (3 days in the office and 2 days from home)

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a dynamic and forward-thinking law firm as an Accounts Assistant, reporting to the Legal Accountant. This is a 15-month fixed term contract covering maternity leave. As the Accounts Assistant, you will be processing cash receipt information, reconciliating trust balances and on-boarding new clients. The successful candidate will be required to have an SRA qualification or experience. Our client is open to discussing part-time hours for the right candidate.

 

Duties and Responsibilities of Accounts Assistant:

 

·        Posting and monitoring cash receipts and cheques, both sterling and foreign currency

·        Matching receipts to clients and investigating unexpected cash receipts by liaising with internal fee earners

·        Opening new client accounts on internal CMS system, checking new client forms have been completed correctly, following strict processes regarding anti-money laundering and other due diligence checks

·        Checking on-line bank balances and transactions, and transferring to and from client accounts as required

·        Posting of German Patent office direct debits and liaising with the bank to find additional information as required

·        Supporting the wider department and providing cover with holiday and sickness

 

About You:

 

·        Prior experience of working within a finance role in a professional services environment is essential

·        SRA qualification or experience required

·        College or degree level education

·        Excellent numerical skills and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

·        Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·        Good interpersonal skills to be able to work collaboratively with other members of the finance team, and with fee earners and paralegals from various technical areas

·        Organised with good time management skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines

·        Able to follow processes and procedures showcasing high levels of accuracy and attention to detail

·        Able to work independently on a remote basis
