Job title: LSA Caseworker
Salary: £13.94 - £15.36 per hour DOE
Location: Winchester
Hours: 4 days a week 8:30 - 16:45 with a 50 minute lunch break - term time only
Contract: Temporary, 2 months minimum
We are seeking an LSA Caseworker to join a busy and supportive Support Team in a prestigious education setting.
As an LSA Caseworker you will work alongside four other caseworkers to provide ongoing support to students who may have highly complex physical, social, emotional and mental health needs. You will assist with access arrangements, risk assessments, and personal care, and you will need to be physically able to undertake manual handling in this role.
Duties and responsibilities of an LSA Caseworker include:
· Manage and provide support to a caseload of students with additional learning needs to enable them to access learning.
· Coordinate school/college visits as part of transition planning including site orientations and meeting teaching/support staff.
· Undertake assessments and applications for exam access arrangements.
· Complete risk assessments and contribute to reviews.
· Work closely with the Careers department to support students’ access to work experience and progression advice.
· Create and review crisis management plans, liaise with other relevant staff and update students’ records.
· Provide in-class support and invigilate exam access arrangements if required.
· Provide help for students in navigating the site including practical tasks such as carrying bags/equipment, pushing wheelchairs, and provide personal care as required.
· Provide advice and guidance through on-going communication with parents, teachers and other staff as necessary.
· Comply with all health and safety policies and procedures.
· Prioritise the safeguarding of all students and participate in relevant training.
About You:
· Previous experience of working in an educational setting with students with a diverse range of needs and Education, Health and Care plans (EHCPs) is desirable.
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
· Strong organisational and administrative skills.
· Able to manage a varied and demanding workload.
· Physically competent with manual tasks e.g. moving equipment, pushing wheelchairs, handling people, bending and kneeling etc.
· Committed to the protection and safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults.
· Flexible to undertake a range of duties, including personal care for students, and work outside normal working hours if required.
· Empathetic, able to build a rapport with young people and driven to help students reach their potential.
